What Happened Was...

While making sand castles on my front step at home, I noticed a little friend crawling around. He was an ant that I decided to name Ant. I was thoroughly interested in my new friend and when he started to run away, I had to follow.

He scurried down the two stone steps of my home then towards the Ti pi that Grandad had made me. I followed Ant inside, where he climbed up the cloth of the Ti pi then was blown down by a gust of wind outside. Feeling bad for Ant, I thought I would help and bring him to safety with a small twig I found on the ground. I carefully picked the twig up and carried my friend outside into the bright, sunny day again.

When I placed Ant down he seemed frightened and for some reason scurried away from me quite quickly. Feeling confident that my friend wouldn't run away from me, I waited for him to reappear. A minute or so passed and still no Ant, so I began to search and finally found him munching on a small crumb. Feeling relieved, I waited patiently for the muncher to finish then began the journey again.

I didn't want to startle poor Ant again, so I walked a distance behind him and watched my steps, as to not squish him. Slowly we traveled around my moms car and towards my uncle's house. The pavement was hot on my bare feet, so I hopped over to the cool grass and watched Ant from there. Coming close to my uncle's house, I noticed that he was outside washing his car. I assumed Ant didn't notice because he was making his way straight for the large puddle by the front wheel. Knowing that ants can't swim, I ran over to save my friend once again and caught him slightly before his near death experience. Using the previous twig, I picked Ant up and carried him over to the pavement behind the drenched car and layed the twig down for Ant to climb off.

On the other side of the pavement there were children everywhere. I didn't want them to step on Ant either, so I informed them that he was coming through and not to squish him. Once through the children, we journeyed to the forest where my mom says I'm am not to go. I didn't want Ant to get me grounded, so I used the twig again and lifted him a safe distance from the trees and directed him across the road. All this running after Ant had made me thirsty, so I stopped at the fountain for a quick drink then proceeded to Auntie tanning on the chair ahead.

I didn't imagine that Ant would bother Auntie, but before I knew it here he was, climbing his way up the chair and onto Aunty's face. She must have been sleeping, for she didn't move a bit when he scrambled right over her face then down the side of the chair. I was frightened for Ant because I knew Auntie did not like small creatures of any sort. Hoping that she wouldn't wake up, I waited patiently for Ant to scurry down the chair and onto grass again.

He wasn't long returning, and soon headed right over my neighbor's fence, up and down the tree, then across the yard to the other side of the fence. I trailed directly behind and jumped the fence once again before the neighbors could notice. That's when I made it back, and here I am! That's what happened.
